THE MINISTRY OF JESUS PART 1blueline.gif (2626 bytes)

Scriptures: Luke 2:41-52, Cor.15:45, Heb.13:17, Luke 3:21-22, Luke 3:21-22, Acts 10:38, 1 John 3:8

  1. In this series of messages we will look at the ministry of Jesus.
What did He do? How did He do it? Why did He do it? What was the result of what he did? Jesus was 100% God and 100% man. He is in the earth as a man anointed by the Holy Ghost. Notice that when He was 12 years old he sat and learned from the elders. The human side of Jesus has to learn just like we have to learn. And everything we have to deal with in the flesh, He had to deal with in his flesh. He had human feelings, human thoughts, human desires, etc. But he was so smart that he would surprise the teachers.
  2. Jesus the Savior had to subject Himself to His parents. If Jesus can submit Himself, then why can't we? (Heb. 13:17) Obey and submit. This is not just for wives to submit to their husbands. If a single man can't submit to the word of God, then he won't be able to submit to his wife. We see Jesus, just before he begins His ministry, at the wedding feast. His mother told Him to perform a miracle before the Holy Ghost anointed him. He did it. This story documents the first miracle performed by Jesus.
  3. Jesus didn't walk in His ministry until He was baptized in the Holy Ghost. We cannot fully walk in our ministry call unless we are baptized in the Holy Ghost. The Holy Ghost has to anoint us. We don't decide to be a preacher, God calls us to do it. Then He anoints us to do it. (Luke 4:1) We need to stay full of the Holy Ghost. Just one touch is not enough. We need to be constantly refilled. (Luke 3:21-22, Acts 10:38)
  4. Jesus was led of the Spirit to be tempted of the devil. He was tempted and tested by Satan for 40 days. In this reference He teaches us how to dominate Satan. He will say, "If we are this and that, then do this or that." Jesus reply was the word of God. So shall our reply be. Jesus did not respond to the devil as God. He responded to the devil as a man. Jesus searched the scriptures. Jesus spent time in the word learning what it said while he was waiting for His ministry to manifest. Therefore, He was able to defeat the devil with the Word of God. (1 John 3:8)
  5. We are supposed to torment the devil by speaking the word. Become a devil tormenter. Stop thinking about what is going on with us and put the devil under our foot where he belongs. It's not about just coming to church. We should come to church, build ourselves up with the Word of God, so that we can run over the devil all the rest of the week. The Bible says that believers will lay hands on the sick and they shall recover. But it also says that they shall cast out devils.
